    12/19/2022-3/15/2023 Mondays and Wednesdays 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm
    Advanced course will teach skills such as enhanced suspension systems, diagnosis and repair of ABS- Brakes and Stability Control. Electronic ignition diagnostics, basic computer system diagnostics, dealing with electrical system problems (including shorts, broken wires, and malfunctioning lights), changing tail light sockets. Engine performance diagnostics such as engine compression testing, engine vacuum testing and the use of hand held scanners. The students perform pre-delivery inspections on shop vehicles and repair faults they find wrong with each vehicle. Electrical trainers are used with meters, test lights and other diagnostic tools. If you like electronics and want to increase your diagnostic abilities then this class is for you!

    This program is for those who seek certification from PA Department of Transportation as an inspection mechanic. This course is offered once a month pending adequate class enrollment. Students must have a valid license in the category in which certification is sought.

     

    0208 PA Motor Vehicle Safety Inspection - RECERTIFICATION

    Requirement: Tuition paid in full at registration.  
    This program is for those who seek a re-certification from PA Department of Transportation as an inspection mechanic. Will join an existing state inspection class for the first two nights. During this time the student will be given a refresher and shown all new updates.  At the end of second night instructor will guide the student through the online enrollment process and show you how to take the online test. Students must have a current state inspection license, current driver’s license and students must bring a valid credit card for online payment. This course is offered once a month pending adequate class enrollment.

    The second level of small engine will provide more in-depth instruction into internal combustion engines.  Students will learn the internals of 2 and 4 stroke engines and carburetors as well as learn firsthand how to rebuild an engine.  Students may bring their own equipment with the permission of the instructor.

    The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program will prepare students to provide out of hospital emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients. EMTs have the basic knowledge and skills necessary to stabilize and safely transport patients ranging from non-emergency and routine medical transports to life threatening emergencies. EMTs function as part of a comprehensive EMS response system, under medical oversight. Emergency Medical Technicians perform interventions with the basic equipment typically found on an ambulance. Emergency Medical Technicians are a critical link between the scene of an emergency and the health care system.  At the successful completion of the EMT program, students are qualified to sit for their National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians certification (Cost not included in class).

    Students will learn the background and history of the HVAC/R industry, physical and chemical properties of materials, terminologies in energies (heating, cooling, thermal dynamics, electrical and light), refrigerant cycle, refrigerants and refrigeration systems, HVAC/R toolbox, and HVAC/R measuring devices. Brazing, charging techniques, recovery and evacuation and safety procedures will be taught. Students will also learn the proper use of a four-valve refrigerant manifold, the maintenance and proper use of a vacuum pump system, the practice of refrigerant and copper tubing braising with oxyacetylene torch, and destructive joint testing and inspection. Students will also receive hands-on practice using high-pressure nitrogen cylinders, various regulators (pressure and purge), proper use of the nitrogen system in HVAC/R technology and other HVAC/R methods. EPA 608 Universal Training included.

    This class teaches basic “stick” welding for the beginner or for those wishing to refresh their skills. Students will receive instruction in preparing steel for welding using oxyacetylene cutting equipment, high speed grinders, and power wire brushes. Using 7018 and 6010 electrodes, students will also receive instruction in preparing and welding fillet and groove welds on steel plate in the flat and horizontal position. Students are required to purchase their own welding gloves, safety glasses, and all leather work boots. Students must use safety glasses, welding hood and gloves.

    MCTI is a remote testing site for the American Welding Society through Welders Testing and Training Institute of Allentown, PA. We offer the opportunity to take certification plate testing in S.M.A.W., G.M.A.W., G.T.A.W., and F.C.A.W. This will be offered only once per semester. Test materials must be paid for at the time of registration. Class size is limited to five (5) participants. Students are required to purchase their own welding gloves, safety glasses, and all leather work boots. Students must use safety glasses, welding hood, and gloves. Test is given on final evening.
