EMRs also provide assistance to higher-level personnel at the scene of emergencies and during transport. Emergency Medical Responders are a vital part of the comprehensive EMS response.     This class is tailored to all levels of experience.  Students will start with getting to know the trade tools and safety.  Preventative maintenance (PM) will be covered and help explain why a PM schedule is so critical to keeping a facility running efficiently.

    Each section of this program will start with a theory lesson, although the primary focus will be hands-on training.  Classes in commercial plumbing, heating, and electric systems will prepare students to enter the workforce or enhance their current career.  System troubleshooting, control wiring, motor replacement, sheetrock repair, painting, and woodworking will also be covered.  Additional topics will include fire detection, facility retrofits, and hazardous waste/containment.  As time allows we will take off the floor questions about things coming up in your day to day work place. The instructor will help get you to the right answer to solve your problem.  As part of this class students will take their OSHA 10, ladder safety, and forklift certifications.

    Students will learn the background and history of the HVAC/R industry, physical and chemical properties of materials, terminologies in energies (heating, cooling, thermal dynamics, electrical and light), refrigerant cycle, refrigerants and refrigeration systems, HVAC/R toolbox, and HVAC/R measuring devices. Brazing, charging techniques, recovery and evacuation and safety procedures will be taught. Students will also learn the proper use of a four-valve refrigerant manifold, the maintenance and proper use of a vacuum pump system, the practice of refrigerant and copper tubing braising with oxyacetylene torch, and destructive joint testing and inspection. Students will also receive hands-on practice using high-pressure nitrogen cylinders, various regulators (pressure and purge), proper use of the nitrogen system in HVAC/R technology and other HVAC/R methods.
