This course will provide the technician, beginner or advanced with a basic understanding of the maintenance on today's diesel powered equipment.  At the conclusion, students can apply as entry level diesel maintenance technicians. Student will complete the program and retain ownership of a filter wrench, tread depth gauge, hydrometer, ½ breaker bar and 6” extension.

Students will learn the background and history of the HVAC/R industry, physical and chemical properties of materials, terminologies in energies (heating, cooling, thermal dynamics, electrical and light), refrigerant cycle, refrigerants and refrigeration systems, HVAC/R toolbox, and HVAC/R measuring devices. Brazing, charging techniques, recovery and evacuation and safety procedures will be taught. Students will also learn the proper use of a four-valve refrigerant manifold, the maintenance and proper use of a vacuum pump system, the practice of refrigerant and copper tubing braising with oxyacetylene torch, and destructive joint testing and inspection. Students will also receive hands-on practice using high-pressure nitrogen cylinders, various regulators (pressure and purge), proper use of the nitrogen system in HVAC/R technology and other HVAC/R methods. EPA 608 Universal Training included.

This class teaches basic stick” welding for the beginner or for those wishing to refresh their skills. Students will receive instruction in preparing steel for welding using oxyacetylene cutting equipment, high speed grinders, and power wire brushes. Using 7018 and 6010 electrodes, students will also receive instruction in preparing and welding fillet and groove welds on steel plate in the flat and horizontal position. Students are required to purchase their own welding gloves, safety glasses, and all leather work boots. Students must use safety glasses, welding hood and gloves.
