This document includes examples of mathematical thinking and what this looks like in the classroom. The 8 Core Standards of Mathematical Practice are combined with a series of questions that teachers can use in their lessons and teaching to bring these practices to their professional practice. There are suggestion on how to take the existing math problems in your trade area and improve student understanding and skill by integrating the core standards of math practice.
This document offers 5 different math instructional activities to use program math content integrated with Core math instructional practices. There are suggestions to differentiate the activity depending on student need and ability. The activities can be done individually, in pairs or groups. There is a also a literacy component which uses Collins Writing.
